Head of Sectors NL


An opportunity has arisen for a new role to be created within the Wholesale Banking (WB) organization, Head of Sectors NL. The role is intended to have oversight of the Sectors organization within the Netherlands. In addition, the role will be integral to the organizational set up of the Wholesale Banking organization, including the transformation related to the upcoming Project Flyer. Please note, this position is part of a Request for Advice (RFA) and any formal appointment will be subject to the positive advice from the Works Council concerning the RFA.

The role

The Head of Sectors is responsible for the commercial performance of the Sectors in the Netherlands, drives the Dutch sector P&L targets and steers on risk/return. As the local Head of Sectors NL, you will be the face to the market and drive commercial strategy for the country, including capital velocity, Organizational Health Index (OHI) and Net Promoter Score (NPS) targets. Within the cluster organisation, you lead cross-sector topics (e.g. impact of capital velocity), drive knowledge sharing and ensure consistency in implementation of cross-sector processes (e.g. segmentation). You support the local Sector teams developing their HR agenda, in cooperation with your HR Business Partner.

The team

You will have a coordination and overarching business performance responsibility for the Sector teams active in the country, covering corporate and institutional clients. In the Netherlands, this includes the following teams:

Corporate Sector Coverage (CSC) EMEA

Commodities, Food and Agriculture (CF&A)

Energy

Financial Institutions (FI)

Technology, Media, Telecom and Healthcare (TMT&H)

Transportation, Logistics and Automotive (T&L)

Real Estate and Infrastructure (RIC)

The Head of Sectors NL will hierarchically report to the Head of WB NL and will functionally report to the Head of Sectors. The role is part of the local WB NL Management Team.

Your responsibilities

Implementing and further developing the country sector strategy, ensuring it is aligned with the overall ING WB strategy and the global sector strategy, to deliver objectives set by the MBB and strengthen commercial performance within risk appetite.

Building and enhancing engagement with clients at senior executive levels and further leveraging the network across functions, country and products.

Managing Dynamic Plan - emphasizing profitable growth in line with strategy.

Setting and developing long term plans for the country, identifying growth opportunities and drive differentiation of customer value propositions vs our competition.

Directing the implementation of the country sector business strategy in coordination and alignment with regional Sector Coverage heads, regional functional heads, our Vice Chairmen and stakeholders in Risk (including non-financial) and Products.

Developing (along with direct reports) senior level relationships with individuals at varied businesses, Investment firms, governments, and other financial institutions.

Working directly with each team head to increase profitability, returns and cross buy opportunities.

Providing senior representation and thought leadership externally.

Maintaining a robust risk culture and performance of the sectors within the Netherlands. Be fully KYC compliant for all PAM & LAM segmented clients.

Ensuring regulatory compliance in line with ING procedures.

Attracting, engaging, and developing talent and built high performing teams.

Your profile

We are looking for a Head of Sectors who has a strong understanding of the WB market in the Netherlands & extensive knowledge of WB products and Risk management.

You are a strong client facing banker who drives the different sector propositions by reconciling and challenging cluster strategy plans.

You are a people manager that can act as leader in a complex matrix organisation.

Next to that you recognize yourself in the following profile:

15-20 years’ work experience in the financial industry.

International experience is preferred.

Proven track record of steering an end-to-end organization.

Strong commercial acumen and ability to execute.

Wealth of deal/transaction experience, market participant knowledge and proven ability to assist in the winning of new business.

Highly experienced in complex stakeholder management.

Good knowledge/experience or regulatory requirements and risks (financial & non-financial).

Strong commitment to ING’s Sustainability strategy.
